The Olympic Garden design was created in honor of the bid to bring the 2016 Olympics to the City of Chicago.
Flags of the 4 candidate cities and countries competing for The Games have be displayed in 2 groups. This includes
the flags of Tokyo, Japan; Madrid, Spain; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil along with Chicago, U.S.A.. The flags are
displayed with a mass planting of pink Dragon Wing Begonias.
Moss topiaries of Olympic 4 athlete forms are also on display. The four sports represented include a tennis player,
soccer player, basketball player and a diver. The topiaries are displayed in a garden of Ornamental Pear Trees,
Basalt Rock fountains, Kong Coleus, Daylilies, Hosta, Ligularia, Lantana, and Dragon Wing Begonias.
Olympic biographies are displayed within the gardens of the local Chicagoland athletes that competed in the
games of 2008 in Beijing, China. These biographies can be view above by clicking on the photo link.
The Jardin Olympico Gardens are located on the Magnificent Mile of North Michigan Ave. at The InterContinetnal
Hotel. The garden theme will be on display through October. The International Olympic Committee (IOC)
will make the final decision on the host city this coming fall.
